Well, it has been a little over a year since my last post! Oops. In the meantime, I've moved to Georgia and really started working as a professional musician. I was thinking to restart this blog, at least for this summer, and possibly continuing next year. I'll be traveling a lot, so it will be a good way to keep track of my activities for those I don't talk to every day. Here's my itinerary for the summer:
May 30 - June 8 Portland, Oregon - Here I'll be working with the local youth orchestra program, teaching and playing with the orchestra, and I'm not sure exactly what else. I hope I'll have a little time for tourism, since I've never been to the Pacific Northwest before.
June 8 - August 2 Breckenridge, Colorado - For eight weeks I will be performing with the National Repertory Orchestra. So far, here are the concerts I know that I will play in:
June 14 (Williams: Olympic Fanfare, Brahms: Academic Festival Overture, Gliere: Harp Concerto, and Dvorak: Symphony No. 9 "From the New World)
June 18 (Glinka: Russlan and Ludmilla Overture, Hovhaness: The Mysterious Mountain, Peck: Percussion Concerto, Tchaikovsky: Valse Scherzo, and Debussy: La Mer)
June 21 (Shostakovich: Symphony No. 10)
June 24 (Williams: Olympic Fanfare)
June 27 (Williams: Olympic Fanfare and Shostakovich: Symphony No. 10)
July 2 (Korngold: Violin Concerto and Holst: The Planets)
More concerts will be announced soon, and will be posted on my business website. I've never been to Colorado, either, and I'm looking forward to my first experience in the Rocky Mountains! Hopefully I'll have enough time off from orchestral activities to go hiking a lot.
August 2 - 14 Moritzburg, Germany - Here, I will be participating in the Moritzburg Festival Academy as first horn. We will have four orchestral concerts and a chamber music concert. We will have concerts all around the area of Dresden, so hopefully I will get to be a tourist here as well!
August 14 - 18 TBA - Just after the festival, I will visit a friend for a few days. We will either go to eastern France or Geneva.
August 18-25 Frankfurt, Germany - I'll be visiting my sister and brother-in-law for a week or so! It will be my first time seeing them in Germany.
I'm very excited for my summer plans. I'll try to remember to update the blog regularly!
